The Two Rivers Christian Church started as the Northeast region of the Mission Point Christian Church in San Antonio. In 2013, a small group of people recognized the need for a church to be in the I-35 corridor due to its incredible growth rate. They faithfully decided to drop what they were doing to go and help start planting a church in the area. There was a very grassroots feeling to the group.
Initially, they moved to San Marcos and helped start a campus ministry at Texas State University. During this time, they were still connected to the church in San Antonio for their church meetings. After a couple years, it was clear that God was blessing them with growth, both spiritually and numerically, across all walks of life: marrieds, young professionals, campus, etc.
That’s when Jeff Henderson began to provide more leadership to the region. They started having their own midweek services. This helped build more of their own identity and they began to see the vision of having a church in the area come more to life.
However, in 2017, the Hendersons were asked to be missionaries to Brazil and they gladly accepted. After careful consideration, it was agreed to that the Rodriguezes would move to the area to begin leading the region.
In the Fall of 2021, four years and a pandemic later, the region began to have all their meetings separate from San Antonio, finally landing on New Braunfels as the place to meet and plant the church.
Finally, in 2025, the Mission Point Christian Church leadership, along with the Northeast regional leadership, agreed that it was a great time to make it official and become our own entity and plant the Two Rivers Christian Church.
Today, we are a group of roughly 115 disciples, of which roughly half are campus students at Texas State University. We love God and one another. We deeply believe in family and intergenerational relationships to help us all in our walks with God. Please join us to see the incredible family that God has built here at the Two Rivers Christian Church.
